Diesel Exhaust Fluid is a mixture of 32.5% synthetic, high-purity, automotive-grade urea and 67.5% deionized water. DEF is injected into selective catalytic reduction diesel engines in buses, cars, vans, agricultural and off-road vehicles.
It enhances performance by approximately 5% and transforms harmful nitrogen oxide emissions into harmless nitrogen and water. DEF is clear, non-toxic, nonflammable, non-explosive, and generally nonhazardous but needs to be filled into a dedicated DEF tank.
