The holiday season is upon us and we want to take a moment to say how grateful and thankful we are. As we look back on the past year, we first want to recognize the many generous people who have helped us. From our newest staff members who bring enthusiasm to the job, to our tried and true partners that have been with us since the beginning – we say “thank you”, and look forward to continued success in 2019.
Beyond just our own company, we are grateful for some recent changes in the trade and tariff realms as well. Con-Tech imports many steel products and has been monitoring the tariff situation closely. Our partners, suppliers and customers rely on us to provide the best quality products at the very best prices we can offer. Knowing what to expect and learning to maneuver the unexpected is what we have practiced this past year. It has made us stronger, more resilient and a better company. The U.S. and Chinese presidents have been in talks recently and are committed to finding ways to work together. With the new year right around the corner, we are happy to read that no additional tariff increases are likely in the near future.
“President Trump has agreed that on January 1, 2019, he will leave the tariffs on $200 billion worth of product at the 10 percent rate, and not raise it to 25 percent at this time,” the White House said.
Good news, indeed!
During the holiday season, we think of how to give back and what better way to do so than to help raise funds for an organization that changes children’s lives? Showing our gratitude is important too and we’ve had a wonderful opportunity to do so. Recently, Con-Tech International was a proud sponsor and participant in an annual golf tournament organized by shipping and logistics company MSC, held in the New Orleans area, to raise money for Operation Smile.
This amazing philanthropic entity sends trained doctors and nurses to developing nations to perform difficult medical procedures to help children with mouth deformities have a brighter and functional smile. Many children in these countries are ostracized and this operation can often save their lives. For more information on Operation Smile, visit their website.
No matter what holiday you celebrate, we’d like to wish you and yours a safe and happy holiday season and a peaceful and prosperous New Year!
Sincerely,
The Con-Tech family
